In his free time he enjoyed being outdoors, going camping and hiking. Captain Gray has been described as “The Poster Boy for Nice”. He was a well respected, and well liked pilot by his fellow employees. Captain Gray retired from USAir around 1986. Upon graduation he flew for several freight companies before joining Lake Central Airlines in the late fifties. John then graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Following discharge from the military, he graduated from the University of Miami. John proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. John is survived by his sons, Chris (Ginger) Gray, Daniel (Yani) Gray, and David (Judy) Gray stepsons, Geoff (Debbie) Walden and Greg (Sue) grandchildren, Alex (Olivia) Gray, Heidi Gray, Andrew (Allison) Gray, Ellen Gray, Erin, Rob, and Alex brother, Sam (Yvonne) Gray former spouse, Carole Johnson and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Gray. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on Decemto John G. age 96, of Florence, Kentucky passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023.
